Katsina Govt, NLC Agree on N70,000 Minimum Wage

The Katsina State Government and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have successfully concluded negotiations for a new minimum wage of N70,000 for workers in the state.

The negotiation, which lasted over nine hours, ended with a mutual agreement between both parties.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the meeting, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Garba Abdullahi Faskari, announced that the implementation of the new salary scale would begin in December 2024 for both state and local government employees.

Faskari commended the resilience and commitment of both the government and the labor union during the negotiation process. He reiterated the administration's commitment to improving the welfare of workers in Katsina State.

On his part, the NLC Chairman, Hamisu Hussaini Yanduna, expressed gratitude to the state government for its patience and cooperation in reaching the agreement. He assured workers that their rights and interests remain the union’s priority.

This agreement is expected to bring relief to workers in the state and improve their living standards as the government takes a significant step in addressing wage concerns.
